Each week, on a special evening or afternoon, Danilo invites all his guests to join him at his dinner table. He personally bakes a choice of tasty pizzas and serves a variety of meats, like quality smoked ham and Tuscan salami. Provincial cheeses like Pecorina, local bread and a variety of fresh fruits ensure a pleasantly filled table. During dinner, Danilo's own fresh excellent white wine and a choice of red wines are served. After the main course, guests can choose from a range of "dolce" ice cream, freshly baked cakes and various red or white sparkling sweet wines. As the evening proceeds, language barriers disappear. All the guests communicate naturally as if it were their second nature - the nature of a "home" -Italian, English, German, Dutch, American, French: at any one time the community comprises around 25 very interesting people from a wide range of backgrounds who are able to experience a sense of "home" in a country which, if they are visiting it for the first time, they sometimes regard as being strange at first. Spending time at "Il Chiassale" means changing this feeling into one of warm familiarity.
